Crimebeat North Wales is a charity working in North Wales to contribute to community initiatives that make North Wales a better place for everyone to live. Crimebeat has a special focus on young people below the age of twenty five. Livetech are proad to be involved in the development of a new website for Crimebeat. The site gives a great overview of recent initiatives, what great work young people have engaged in and other useful resources.

Crimebeat is a national scheme overseen by the  High Sheriffs www.highsheriffs.com. The historic office of the High Sheriff is one of the most ancient in the country. Sheriffs have been appointed by the Monarch for each shire or county as the sovereign’s representative for all matters relating to the judiciary for over 1,000 years (think Sheriff of Nottingham, not ‘I shot the Sheriff’ !

There are two High Sheriffs in North Wales, the High Sheriff of Gwynedd is Professor R G Grove-White.

Snow in North Wales

SEO for Foreign Markets

One thing we're beginning to do with one of our clients is Non-English SEO. The company, Fracmo (a large manufacturer of DC Motors), ships their products around much of western Europe. As a result, as well as an English language site, they also have two sites, one of which is in Italian, the second is in German. So how do you go about optimizing a site in a language you don't speak?

Well, there's still a lot of things you can do even if you don't understand what you are writing about. The first is making sure your back end is in order. A great way of getting ranked in google.it (Italian Google) and google.de (German Google) is to use the domain names .it and .de for the main pages. This is the cheapest and easiest way to get ranking, and businesses that plan to expand into different markets would be advised to secure their name in as many different country TLD's as possible.

Secondly, hosting on servers located in the country you are targetting is extremely desirable, if not vital. This will require some research, although the bigger hosting companies may be able to help you out.

Both these things will have a positive effect on your rankings, even before getting out your phrasebook!

We enjoy working with small businesses in particular (largely because we are one ourselves, of course!), and one such business is March Hare Music, a small music shop based in Llandudno. We recently redesigned their website from a small, static site into a full e-commerce solution.

E-commerce is a great way for small businesses to expand without a huge increase in costs, as the internet is global, and your target market is increased. However, there are a number of pitfalls that are associated with online shops (fraud, for example). We can offer advice on what to look for, how to deal with it, and even protecting you against the fraud.

Like any business, the main way to success is through promotion and SEO work, and we urge clients to focus on a niche to begin with, even just one product or brand, to start the ball rolling.

One of our exciting new projects is aimed at an area that doesn't have a tremendous online presence - Care Homes. Care Homes @ North West and Wales is our newest directory on the North West and Wales network of directories aimed at the residents of the North Wales and North West area, which lists businesses in terms of business area, then by county.

Of course, Care Homes @ North West and Wales deals with Care Homes in North Wales, and at the moment in particularly we're targetting Care Homes in Conwy and Care Homes in Gwynedd to begin with, eventually we're hoping to cast our net over the whole North Wales Area.

The hope is that will dominate as much as our North Wales Chartered Accountants directory, which is one of the premier accountant listings in North Wales and North West England.

Good Wine Online

One project we are really looking forward to is Good Wine Online, an example of how a marketing strategy mixed with good content can lead to fantastic results.

Good Wine Online specialises - as you might expect - with wine, particularly Italian Red Wine. It is this area of the business that Good Wine Online wish to push.

As a result, using our minisite™ system, we have been able to create a bunch of sites servicing Good Wine Online.

These include:

Furthermore, it's important during the promotion of the website to get links from a variety of relevant services. We have created an Italian Red Wine Squidoo Lens as well, and if you are on the service too, feel free to lensroll us!

North Wales Windows

We've been doing work recently for John Williams Windows. John Williams Windows are a Wirral Conservatory specialist that produce high quality windows, doors, conservatories and more.

We have been aiming to promote John Williams in a number of ways:

• Creation of Windows North West, a North Wales Windows directory.
• Creation of two supportive sites based on our minisite system, Chester Conservatories and Wirral Windows
• Ongoing SEO cleanup of the site
• Working on submission of all the above sites to relevant directories.

It's taken time, but we're beginning to see some results now. Of course, with all good SEO work, it is a six month, at least, ongoing process. But you'll hit a "tipping point", where websites will click, work, and become successful.
